Boston Celtics Draft Prospects

Every Celtics fan knows that this offseason is going to be a big one. There have been trade rumors about KG, Pierce, and Doc Rivers to the Clippers for Blake Griffin and others. There has also been talk about KG retiring and Pierce being cut to save money. Something that hasn't been talked about that much has been the NBA draft which is June 27th. This article will tell you specific players that the celtics should target going into the draft.

#1 Alex Len Center Maryland Sophmore
Alex Len had just recently injured his ankle and it required surgery which could help him fall to the Celtics. The Celtics have needed a big man to go opposite of KG to help reduce his minutes if he is there next year. They drafted Fab Melo last year to help fill that void but everytime he was on the court in the NBA he seemed lost. Len will be a perfect fit due to his height and his ability to score in the post.

#2 Steven Adams Center Pittsburgh Freshman
Steven Adams is probably the most realistic pick at 16 due to the weakness of this draft. Adams is a very talented player who could have used a couple more years in college to improve his game.Adams is a 7 footer with tons of potential to be a starter for many years to come. If KG stays around for another year Adams would be lucky enough to learn from a legend.

#3 Giannis Adetokunbo Small Forward Greece 1994
The "Greek freak" has been flying up draft boards due to his immense potential. He is a 6'9 small forward with the ability to play any position on the court. Danny Ainge has been overseas a few times to scout what he is all about. He has been playing against lower level teams over in greece compared to that of other international prospects. Giannis could be the long term replacement for Pierce and he could also become a star with good development.

#4 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Shooting Guard Georgia Sophmore
KCP is one of the most underrated players in the entire draft. He has the potential to be a top 5 pick and could easily become a top 10 pick due to his shooting ability and his perimeter defense. The reason that his stock is lower than it should be is because he played at Georgia where the team around him was very bad. KCP has all the physical tools to become a starting shooting guard with his height of 6'5 and weight of 205 lbs. He would fit perfectly next to Rondo by giving a lights out shooter that they once had in Ray Allen.

#5 Rudy Gobert Power Forward/Center France 1992
Gobert has the ability to become the anchor of any defense due to his height and length. He measured in at 7'2 with a 7'9 wingspan. He would become a great fit next to KG or become the future replacement of him. Gobert is one of the highest potential players in the draft due to his defense, he could end up coming out of this draft as being the best defender.

Honorable Mention: Dennis Schroeder Point Guard Germany 1993
If Danny Ainge decides to completely rebuild then Shroeder would be the perfect fit for this organization. He is similar in many ways to that of Rondo except that his jumpshot is more consistant. He is a 6'2 guard who has a 6'7 wingspan which will help him when he has to defend bigger players and to defend passing lanes. He is probably the quickest player in this draft, with just a single pick he can get to the hoop or throw a lob for a dunk.

These six player would all help the Celtics help rebuild well still being competitive. The celtics have a lot of needs for the future and every single one of these players would be able to fill a void. Hopefully the Celtics are able to land one of these prospects to help build around. They already have a young core of Bradley, Sullinger, and Green so these players would mesh well with them.

Boston Marathon

The Boston Marathon bombing was one of the most devistating times in Massachussetts. It was when 2 brothers bombed the finish line to the Boston Marathon it killed 3 and injured hundreds more. But yet it ended up being a heartwarming event when other fans at the marathon would run over and help eachother and some marathon runners ran straight to the hospital to give blood to those who needed it. This was a very sad event but it will be remembered as everybody coming together to fight against this as one.

The bombers were later trying to flee from the cops and one was killed and the other captured. once again the United states stood on top even with the bombings in Boston. Millons of dollars have been donated to those who were injured so that they could fight through their injuries. This hasn't just affected Boston but its affected everyone over the world.

There was a very special moment that happened because of the Boston bombing. Jason Collins, a center for the Washington Wizards, came out as being gay. He addmitted to sports illistrated that the reason he came out was the Boston bombing because you never know when life can just end.  He is the first ever active player to come out as gay from a major sport.

Kevin Ware Injury

Kevin Ware jumped to contest the shot and landed with one of the most gruesome injuries of all time. Everyone on the court and watching the game knew the injury was very serious. Especially when you could see his bone puncture the skin and be able to see it. Before he was transported to a local hospital for surgery he brought his team close to him and told him that he would be fine and they just need to win this game.
Kevin just kept saying that all he cared about was winning the game, he didn't worry about the injury at all. He would end up watching the end of the game see his team dominant after his departure and speech. He would end up going into surgery and when he woke up his coach was there and so was the final four trophy. Louisville will be playing saturday versus underdog Witchita State with a chance to go to the NCAA championship game. They will be wearing warm up shirts that say "All in for #5".

The Cinderella's of College Basketball

As the buzzer sounds Florida Gulf Coast has convinceley beat Georgetown. Not only did they beat the heavily favored team that they were facing, but so did Harvard, La Salle, Oregon, Californa, Minnesotta, and Ole Miss. Upsets have always been a part of the NCAA tournament, but this yars is so much diffrent from the ones in the past. Most of teams seem equal for atleast a ten minute portion of the game which is suprising. Too go along with all these upsets Davidson, Southern, and Western Kentucky all brought their team to the wire.
This was just after the round of 64 that we had all these upsets, after the round of 32 we had 4 teams ranked 9 or higher left in the sweet sixteen. FGCU, the first 15 seed to make the sweet sixteen, looks like a championship contender. La Salle or Witchita State play eachother so atleast one team thats ranked 9 or higher will be in the elite eight.
The college basketball world is still wondering who is going to win this tourney because all 16 teams have a realistic chance to win it all. As we wonder if this will continue into the future, I highly doubt it because of the recruiting class that Kentucky has bringing in. But for now we will just sit back and watch the rest of the tournament.

Career Changing Performance

Brandon Jennings kept taking shots and he made most of them. in only his seventh career game Jennings just scored 55 points in helping his team get the victory. This game escalated the expectations for a rookie who was the 1st player to skip college and go overseas to play professionally. He is the youngest player to ever score 50 or more points in a game. He was expected to be the savior of this franchise after one performance. Everyone has expectations but not as high this guy had. as he continues his career today everyone still remembers this game and he expects to get paid with a max contract this offseason.
